Ayodeji Richard Makun, also known as AY or AY Comedian, is a stand-up comedian with Nigerian roots notable for his author and actor work. Ayo Makun is a native of Ifon, Ose local government in Ondo State, and was born on August 19, 1971, in Warri, then part of Nigeria’s Delta State.
In Nigeria’s Delta State, Ayo Makun attended Delta State University in Abraka. In 2003, he received his degree in theatre arts (after nine years of study). The Jaycee Club Socio-personality Award, Best Show Business Promoter (2001), Most Celebrated Student on Campus (2001), and Most Fashionable Student on Campus(1999 and 2000) are just a few of the accolades that A.Y garnered while he was a student.
His comedic career has been ongoing for some time, but it wasn’t until he performed on the Night of a Thousand Laughs set of legendary producer Opa Williams that he became widely known. Ayo has transitioned from performing on other people’s shows to hosting his own, AY Live. Ayo Makun has his hands in many hats, but his most extraordinary claim to fame is as a comedian.
From a family of seven, Ayo Makun is the oldest male child. Mr. and Mrs. Olorunyomi Makun, who passed away, were his parents.

Mabel Makun, a businesswoman and interior designer from Nigeria, is the founder and CEO of Midas Interior Limited. She was from Delta State in Nigeria and was born on March 30, 1986. Before moving on to study art at the University of London, she earned her first degree in business administration at Delta State University.
After serving as the personal assistant and event manager for Alibaba Akporobome, Ayo Makun received recognition. He contributed to “Going A.Y wire” as a guest contributor to The Sun in Nigeria and “Laugh Mattaz” by Gbenga Adeyinka. In addition, he serves as the host of the A.Y. comedic skits and live shows. Robert O. Peters directed and produced his debut film, 30 Days in Atlanta. He also serves as the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment Nigeria.
In AY’s Crib, a Nigerian sitcom starring Alex Ekubo, Venita Akpofure, Buchi Franklin, and Justice Nuagbe, Ayo Makun both direct and perform. He also hosts the comedy program AY Live, which features performers such as Basketmouth, Helen Paul, and Bovi. Ayo Makun also serves as Nigeria’s Corporate World Entertainment’s CEO. However, he has a clubhouse as well. He has opened the road for up-and-coming comedians with his AY “Open Mic Challenge” as a stand-up comedy investor.
At the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana, he and Joselyn Dumas co-hosted the 2018 Golden Movie Awards Africa.
