Taaooma attended Amazing Kids Private School & Academy for her elementary education before moving on to Concordia College in Windhoek, Namibia, where she completed some of her studies and developed a deep interest in comedy and performing arts. She eventually began creating and sharing sketches on social media because she loved the humour, which helped her get a large following and launch her career as the well-known Nigerian comic Taaooma. Following her graduation from Amazing Kids Private School & Academy, Maryam Apaokagi, also called Taaooma, pursued her higher studies at Concordia College in Windhoek, Namibia. Through her time in Namibia, she developed a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that would later shape her successful career.
After moving to Nigeria, Taaooma attended Kwara State University and earned a tourism and travel service management degree. She convinced her fiancé to teach her the fundamentals of video editing, and in 2015, she began her career in internet comedy. She became well-known with a performance in 2019 about African parents driving their kids to school. She starred as the face of the July issue of Media Room Hub in 2019. She completed her NYSC in 2020.
Her distinct brand of humour, which frequently draws attention to realistic facets of Nigerian society and family relationships, helped her quickly amass a social media following. Taaooma’s fame was rising as she kept putting out entertaining routines that struck a chord with viewers in Nigeria and beyond. Her success led to collaborations with famous comedians and opportunities to perform at various events and shows.
Her parents are Mr Adedo and Mrs Aisha Apaokagi, but there is no detailed information on social media. Despite her online presence, Aisha has chosen to allow them to maintain a sense of anonymity away from the public eye. She sometimes shares images of her family, though.
According to the records, Taaooma has four siblings and is the last of her parents’ children.
She isn’t a mother yet.
Abdulaziz Oladimeji, also known as Abula, and Apaokagi engaged in Namibia in February 2020. The couple got married on January 24, 2021. The couple married soon after Abula proposed to her on the top of an opulent hotel in the stunning city of Namibia. She revealed that they had dated for five years, starting in 2015 when she was sixteen, before deciding to tie the knot.
In 2015, Taaooma started creating comedic skits with the encouragement of Abula, her music producer fiancée. She disclosed that he had taught her how to operate the camera and edit her films. Taaooma released her debut video in 2015, but it wasn’t until 2019 that she gained popularity because of a skit she created about African parents driving their kids to school and other African family dramas. Her skit quickly went viral, resonating with many viewers who could relate to the humorous portrayal of African family dynamics. The success of this video catapulted Taaooma into the spotlight, earning her a large following on social media platforms and opening doors for collaborations with other famous comedians.
Taaooma’s success as a content creator extends beyond her online presence. She has collaborated with several brands and been featured in numerous media outlets, solidifying her status as a prominent influencer.
