Best 10 Grammar Checkers

English is not a language everyone can claim to be proficient in. Even those who are skilled in the language are liable to make slips here and there, now and then.

The point is, no one is immune to mistakes when it comes to composing anything in the English language. To minimise making egregious slips in composition, some people have resorted to using grammar checkers.

But what are grammar checkers? As the name implies, grammar checkers are programmes created to check for errors in the data they have been fed. These errors include mistakes in grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc. The programmes are beneficial to people whose command of language is patently poor, but they still come in handy for others as well.

The development of grammar checkers has evolved markedly over time ever since someone came up with the idea to create them, and they will continue to grow as the world advances. The development of AI has been a significant boost to grammar checkers.

There are many grammar checkers out there, some of which are not even worth the name. But some of them truly stand out — and these are the focus of this post. Tag along, then, as we share what we consider the top 10 grammar checkers out there.

Of course, you may not agree with everything on our list, but we’re confident you’d agree with most of them. Let’s roll!

Grammarly is the all-time favourite of many writers out there — loved for its ability to not only spit errors but offer suggestions and even allow for style guides as well.

Grammarly offers a free plan as well as a paid version. The free version provides basic checks like spelling and grammar, encapsulating agreement, number, tense, etc. The premium version offers way more than that, including sentence suggestions, rewrites, and so much more.

Grammarly is available for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. It is also available as a plugin for Microsoft Word, as well as an extension for Firefox and Google Chrome, making it available to millions around the world.

2. Quillbot

The only major drawback to this feature is that you may not want to retain the corrections, and you might struggle to pick out all the modifications made, especially if it’s a large body of text.

GrammarCheck is actually aptly named in that it does exactly what it says it would do — check your writing for those annoying grammar errors and fix them for you.
