Davido And Adekunle Gold Set To Headline Lagos BlockParty Holiday Shows
The BlockParty, Africa’s leading youth festival, have just revealed Davido and Adekunle Gold as the main performers for their highly anticipated Christmas activities on Wednesday. Adekunle Gold will perform at the Mainland event on New Year’s Day, while Davido will shut down the Island version of the youth festival on December 26.
Davido’s main appearance was revealed on Wednesday, December 13, in advance of the upcoming yuletide festivities. The Afrobeats artist, whose most recent album, “Timeless,” was released in March of this year, will be joined at the Island event, dubbed “The Timeless BlockParty,” in Lagos on December 26 by artists like ODUMODUBLVCK, Fave, and Dopecaesar.
Alongside Livewire, MIA, and Tolu Daniels on hype duties, the festival’s own sound system crew will also be present at the Island event, which will feature DJ Titanium, Maze x Mxtreme, and SmallztheDJ. Davido, the headlining act, has no doubt has had a insanely monumental year, receiving three Grammy Award nominations for 2024. “Timeless,” his fourth studio album, is nominated for “Best Global Album.”
Other nominations bagged include Best Global Music Performance for his song “Feel” and Best African Performance for his song “Unavailable,” which includes Musa Keys. On the flip side, the festival’s Mainland event, “#Mission24K,” celebrating its fifth anniversary, will feature Adekunle Gold as the headlining act on January 1.
