Davido Applauds Tyla On Her Grammy Success

Afrobeats musician, Davido has responded to Tyla’s victory at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Tyla, a South African musician, reached a noteworthy milestone when she won the 2024 Grammy Awards’ inaugural Best African Music Performance category. Tyla is now the youngest and the first South African to win the prize, making her the first winner of this historic victory.

Notably, Tyla is particularly honored by this win because it is her first Grammy nomination. In the hotly contested Afrobeats category, Tyla faced stiff competition from other nominees like Burna Boy, Davido, Musa Keys, Ayra Star, Olamide, and Asake. At the 66th edition, her critically praised global smash “Water” won the prize.

Many were surprised by the mixed responses that her win announcement elicited on social media. Though there have been differing opinions expressed, the celebrity has received a lot of congrats and well wishes in recognition of her accomplishment.

Tyla also received congratulations from Davido, who was nominated three times for the 66th Grammy Awards, on her incredible victory.

Three brand-new categories, including Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording, made their Grammy Awards debut in 2024. One of them is Best African Music Performance.  “Water” is scheduled to appear on Tyla’s debut album of the same name, which drops on March 22.
