Davido Reveals Close Friendship With Football Icon, Cristiano Ronaldo

Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has recently opened up about his close relationship with Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo. The revelation came during his appearance on the latest episode of the ABTalks podcast, hosted by Anas Bukhash.

Davido, who made history as the first Nigerian artist to perform at the FIFA World Cup final last year in Qatar, expressed his admiration for Ronaldo and defended him against online trolls. He stated, “Look at [Cristiano] Ronaldo when he left the World Cup. He is my friend, by the way. He is my very good friend. When he [Ronaldo] left the World Cup, I remember being on the internet, and they [trolls] were abusing him so much, even after everything that he has done.”

The bond between the two celebrities extends to social media, with Ronaldo being the only African artist that the footballer follows on Instagram. This connection was further solidified in 2017 when Davido paid tribute to Ronaldo in his hit song ‘Fall.’

The ‘Fem’ crooner further elaborated on the nature of their friendship, stating, “It’s crazy being on top of the world and the next moment, you’re not. Even with soccer, with football, you win all these awards, you win the Champions League, you win the World Cup, and people don’t still feel like it’s enough? Look at Ronaldo…when he left the World Cup, he’s my friend by the way, he’s my very good friend. When he left the World Cup (Qatar 2022), I remember like being on the internet, and they were abusing him so much….after everything he has done. That’s my greatest fear.”
