DJ Snake Unleashes ‘Westside Story’

The French DJ and Producer Returns with a Funky Anthem for the Festival Season, A Sonic Revolution in Dance Music

The world of dance music is set to be electrified once again as the multi-platinum DJ and globally acclaimed producer, DJ Snake, releases his first single of 2023, “Westside Story.” The track, released via Interscope Records, is a vibrant blend of funky rhythms and uplifting lyrics, designed to dominate the biggest stages of the festival season. “Westside Story” is now available across all digital platforms.

“Westside Story” is a call to freedom, a beacon of liberation on the dancefloor and beyond. The lyrics, “Break through / You need to break that shell,” set the tone for a track that is both propulsive and immersive. The deep bassline flows seamlessly over neon-tinged synth keys, punctuated by wailing chords and sweet vocoder harmonies. DJ Snake, the French maestro, has once again demonstrated his knack for creating a retro-modern sound that encourages listeners to let go and immerse themselves in the music.

The track’s heavy funk and disco elements underscore DJ Snake’s reputation as one of the most versatile producers in dance music. His ability to incorporate global sounds into euphoric club anthems is unparalleled, as demonstrated by his deeply personal “Disco Maghreb,” which celebrated his Algerian roots, and “Guddi Riddim,” a track that introduced Indian rhythms to a vast global audience.

In an exciting development, DJ Snake will be partnering with McDonald’s France from June 20th. This collaboration between the world’s most streamed French artist and the world’s leading restaurant chain will include the release of “Westside Story,” DJ Snake’s signature meal, and a limited edition Pardon My French clothing capsule. DJ Snake joins the ranks of Travis Scott, J Balvin, BTS, and Cardi B in the McDonald’s meal Hall of Fame, giving fans the opportunity to try his ‘famous order’ in all France locations over the coming weeks.

DJ Snake’s diverse and electrifying discography includes the sensual “Nightbird,” “Disco Magreb,” and the Afropop exploration “Power (Remember Who You Are)” with Spinall, Summer Walker, and Äyanna. His collaboration with Wade and the Nooran Sisters, “Guddi Riddim,” went viral on TikTok and Instagram, further cementing his status as a global music phenomenon.

“Westside Story” comes on the heels of the anniversary of Snake’s historic performance at Paris Saint Germain’s Parc des Prince, where he played to a crowd of 63,000 fans — the biggest headlining show of his career. 2023 has already been a monumental year for DJ Snake, with performances at Super Bowl LVII and an RIAA-certified 8x Platinum for “Turn Down For What.” The year is far from over, as he embarks on an international summer tour with scheduled dates at Las Vegas’ Zouk, Ultra Europe in Croatia, Brooklyn Mirage, UK’s Creamfields, and more.
