Igwe Credo: How KCee Lured Us To Lagos, Arrested Me At The Airport

In a recent interview, Francis Akunne, a fast-rising Nigerian singer, also known as Igwe Credo Mbem, shared his experience of being deceived by KCee into travelling to Lagos using a false identity, resulting in his arrest at the airport. Despite the challenging situation, Igwe Credo remained optimistic and gave a detailed account of the payments he and Ojazzy received from KCee, amounting to N500k. He also shared how it all started, highlighting the lessons he learned from the experience. Igwe Credo’s openness about the situation may serve as a valuable lesson for others, emphasizing the importance of trust and transparency in the music industry.

“I was fighting for the publishing rights of the song, which is entitled to everybody who participated in the song. I did the chant and hyping of E-Money in Ojapiano. I am asking for the split-ship for the two songs I helped create.”

Igwe Credo, who is Ojazzy’s manager and an artist, shared his experience of participating in the creation of the songs. He mentioned that he was not just a mere manager but also contributed to the artistic process of making the songs. However, during a chat, he revealed that his life had become a nightmare since appearing on YanBaba’s show and discussing his dealings with KCee. He further said that KCee had lured him to Lagos and arrested him after his chat with YanBaba went viral in November last year.

“What happened was that a client called us and said he had a gig for us. We charged them N2.5m, but we agreed on N2m. One million was paid into our account, and flight tickets were booked for me and Ojazzy.

On arriving in Lagos, we were picked up at the airport by the police and were thrown in jail. We never knew it was KCee who was behind it all. He lured me and Ojazzy from Awka to Lagos so he could deal with us.”

Igwe Credo has disclosed that he and Ojazzy were taken into custody and detained for a day, but their management secured their release. He has also confirmed that he is negotiating with KCee and his management. They agreed to give the two songs 5% of the split and royalties. However, the contract for this agreement has not been signed yet. This comes after reports in the media that KCee had purchased and offered a brand-new car to the artist, as well as monetary donations.

“Ojazzy was paid off, I am yet to receive Shishi,”

“After we were released, Ojazzy had an agreement with them as he was paid off; that was why he was given the car. But I am yet to receive shishi. They also agreed to use him whenever KCee has a show, and he needs an Oja person.”
