Khaid As Apple Music’s “Africa Rising” Cover Star

Apple Music’s Africa Rising program showcases and elevates emerging talent from Africa. The program selects six artists each year who receive at least two months of editorial support across the Apple Music platform, including a launch interview with Nadeska on Apple Music 1. The program has helped many artists, including Omah Lay, Tems, Ayra Starr, and others. Additionally, Apple Music selected Tems as its Up Next artist in 2021 and chose Rema, Burna Boy, and Mr. Eazi previously. This program is indeed a game-changer in the African music industry, and it’s resonating with music lovers worldwide. With Apple Music’s Africa Rising, the future looks bright for the African music industry, and many can’t wait to see more young talents rise to the top.

After seeing Khaid’s amazing freestyle videos on TikTok, influencer and comedian Sydney Talker signed him to the Lagos-based label Neville Records. Khaid was consequently chosen in June 2022 as Apple Music’s Up Next Artist for Nigeria. Khaid released two tracks to start 2023 off strong: the Afro-fusion ballad “Jolie” and the Afrobeats-infused collaboration “Carry Me Go.” After this, he released “Annabella,” an ode to love, demonstrating his ability to combine several genres.
