Kodak Black To Stay Put In Federal Prison While Florida Drug Possession Charges Are Dropped

American rapper Kodak Black will continue to be detained in federal prison until his accusations related to narcotics possession in Florida are dropped.

The Associated Press reports that on Friday, February 9, the charge was dropped after Judge Barbara Duffy informed the prosecution that they were unable to verify or deny if the rapper, whose real name is Bill Kapri, indeed had an oxycodone prescription. The substance that led to Kodak Black’s initial arrest back in December was discovered in his possession, and it also resulted in the revocation of his bond in a different federal case.

Bradford Cohen is attempting to have his client’s additional tampering allegation dropped on behalf of Kodak Black. Additionally, Cohen expressed his optimism that his client will be released from the Miami federal prison center as a result of the dismissal of his tampering accusation.

Kodak Black’s legal issues started on December 7 when he was accused of possessing cocaine, tampering with tangible evidence, and parking his car inappropriately. He formally entered a not guilty plea and asked for a jury trial four days later. The police report states that when they saw Kodak’s Bentley stopped on a busy street, they went up to talk to the driver.

They said they smelled alcohol coming from the automobile as they got close to it. as they looked inside, they discovered white powder, cannabis residue, and rolling paper.
