Mr. Eazi Releases New Single “Advice” Ahead Of Album “Evil Genius”

Mr. Eazi has released new music as well as the title of his long-awaited, decade-long debut solo album, The Evil Genius. Advice, produced by Ghana’s M.O.G. Beatz, is the latest single by The Evil Genius, which will be released on October 27, 2023.

Mr. Eazi is the next artist to be featured in Vevo’s original video series Ctrl., with a passionate, defiant performance of the drill-infused Advice released today to coincide with the track’s release.

The lyrically dense Advice mentions a number of African martyrs, notably former DRC President Joseph Kabila and Ken Saro-Wiwa, a Nigerian writer and activist whose 1995 execution sparked domestic and international outcry.

The Evil Genius contains some of Mr. Eazi’s most intimate work, as he delves deeply into topics like love, betrayal, loneliness, and family, expressed through three distinct acts, over the course of two years while recording in Ouidah and Cotonou, Benin; Kigali; Accra and Kokrobite, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; London; Los Angeles; and New York City.

In a groundbreaking mix of African music and art, Mr. Eazi hired visual artists from all over the continent to make one special, tangible artwork to symbolize each of the 16 songs on the album. Alphonce Odhiambo, also known as Alpha ODH, a Nairobi, Kenya-based artist, provided the acrylic painting for Advice, which resonates to the song’s defiant lyrics.
