New Orleans Jazz Festival: Vampire Weekend Cover Bob Dylan And Bruce Springsteen

Vampire Weekend brought their signature indie pop sound to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 27. They delivered a memorable set that showcased their versatility and musical talent. Fans were delighted when the band covered two classic songs for the very first time: Bob Dylan’s “When He Returns” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Hungry Heart.”

Unfortunately, the band had to perform without their bassist, Chris Baio, who was forced to miss the show due to illness. He shared the news on Instagram, apologizing to fans and revealing that he was lying in bed with the flu. This marked the first time Baio had missed a Vampire Weekend show since 2006. Despite this setback, the band has continued to make waves with their latest album, “Only God Was Above Us.” Critics have praised the record for its distinct millennial buoyancy and introspective lyrics that capture the zeitgeist of modern life. Fan reviews noted that the band has come to terms with the things they can’t change and found peace amidst the chaos.

To promote the album, Vampire Weekend is embarking on a highly anticipated tour this November. The tour includes a special two-night engagement at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith and a show at the O2 Academy in Brixton. Due to popular demand, they have added a second show in Brixton on December 11. In addition to their tour, the band is also set to perform at several festivals this season, including Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton, Primavera Sound, Kilby Block Party, and Hinterland.

Vampire Weekend recently kicked off their North American tour with a special show in Austin, Texas, which coincided with a total solar eclipse. The band made a surprise appearance at the first weekend of Coachella 2024, where Paris Hilton joined them on stage. With their infectious energy and captivating performances, Vampire Weekend will continue to win over new fans and solidify their place in the music world.
