Tory Lanez Transferred To Supermax Prison Following A Solitary Existence At A Medium-Security Facility
Tory Lanez was transferred from North Kern State Prison to a super-maximum security facility in California. Lanez (actual name Daystar Peterson) recently received a transfer to the California Correctional Institute in Tehachapi, California, according to court reporter Meghann Cuniff.
In contrast to earlier this week’s reports, Cuniff clarified on Friday, October 13, that Lanez had not been transferred to North Kern’s general population.
Just FYI because people are asking, this isn’t true.
Tory Lanez was moved to the California Correctional Institute, a state supermax prison that is not North Kern State Prison.
Reports that Lanez was moved to general population at North Kern are false. https://t.co/3Mkv7quHSk

California Correctional Institute is in Tehachapi, about 85 miles southeast of Kern.
It’s designated as a supermax prison, so “general population” there is not quite the same as general population elsewhere. pic.twitter.com/CRpvtzqJMU

Previously, Tory Lanez’s legal team had lobbied for him to be assigned to North Kern’s general population unit so he could have a more “normal” jail experience and mingle with other prisoners on the yard. Additionally, there have been recent reports that Lanez was leading a “loner” lifestyle while incarcerated because he was placed in “Administrative Segregation” because of his popularity.
The 10-year prison sentence that Tory was given this past summer is still being contested. He was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet in July 2020. As they continue to prepare their appeal, his attorneys earlier this week submitted a new motion for bail.
The motion is similar to the one that was denied last month, so Meghann Cuniff hypothesized that the 31-year-old won’t be granted bond. In his plea for bail, Lanez asked to be placed under house arrest while renting a “exotic home” in Los Angeles rather than mentioning residential rehab for the alcoholism he had previously admitted to.
