Mahmood Yakubu Biography

Mahmood Yakubu is a Nigerian academic, professor and current chairman of Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Prof. Yakubu found himself in the spotlight following his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. But the attention on him appears to be more concentrated at the moment because of his handling of the 2023 election.

As Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Mahmood is believed not to have served with rectitude and Nigerians are mostly angry with him as a result.
