Simone’s parents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, have supported her throughout her career as a competitive gymnast. In 2003, Simone and her sister Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie, who are Simone’s maternal grandparents. Simone and Adria had been in and out of foster care for many years at the time. Tevin and Ashley, Simone’s other siblings, were adopted by Ronald’s sister.

When Ronald and Nellie traveled to Rio de Janeiro to support Simone at the Olympics in 2016, they made headlines. As Simone revealed on Dancing With the Stars in 2017, her biological mother frequently battled substance misuse and was frequently in and out of jail.

Additionally, Simone gained Adam Biles and Ron Jr., who were her uncles before being adopted by her grandparents, as two more half-siblings. Adam and Ron Jr. are brothers in Simone’s eyes.

Simone’s mother, Shanon Biles, has spoken about having to give up her children for adoption, and her biological father, Kelvin Clemons, was not actively involved in her life. Ron’s sister, Harriett, is said to have adopted Simone’s siblings Ashley and Tevin.
