Yul Edochie Biography

Chibuike Yul Daniel Edochie, better known by his stage name Yul Edochie, was born in Nigeria on January 7, 1982. He was given the name after Russian actor Yul Brynner. He is the son of Nigerian actor Pete Edochie and hails from the Nigerian state of Anambra. He was brought up in both Lagos and Enugu. He is the sixth and final child. He married when he was 22 years old. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts from the University of Port Harcourt.

In 2005, Edochie made his Nollywood debut in the movie The Exquires, costarring Justus Esiri and Enebeli Elebuwa. Then, after appearing in the 2007 film Wind of Glory with Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot, he finally got his big break. Edochie established a film academy in Lagos in 2015. The academy offers talented individuals the chance to get their foot in the door of the Nigerian film industry.

Even though he was an experienced administrator and broadcaster, he first earned a reputation in the 1980s when he played Okonkwo, the main character, in a Nigerian Television Authority rendition of Things Fall Apart, the best-selling book by Chinua Achebe. Edochie is a Catholic and descended from the Igbo people of Nigeria. President Olusegun Obasanjo gave him the title of Member of the Order of the Niger in 2003.

The union of Yul Edochie and May resulted in the birth of four children (three boys and one girl): Victory Zane Chukwubuike, Kambi, Dani, and Karl Edochie.

Star Dike Munachimso is the only child to which Yul Edochie and Judy Austin are parents. On November 21, 2021, they welcomed their child.
