Ariana Grande Addresses “Hateful Fans” Of Her New Album

Ariana Grande, the multi-talented singer, songwriter, and actress, has passionately appealed to her fans to stop posting “hateful messages” on social media in response to her latest album, Eternal Sunshine. The album is a deeply personal project that chronicles Grande’s emotional journey following her split with Dalton Gomez, her partner of two years. She has now found love again with Ethan Slater, her co-star from the hit musical Wicked. On Friday, Grande dropped Eternal Sunshine, her first full album since her 2020 project, Positions, which dominated the Billboard 200 albums chart for two weeks. Eternal Sunshine is also off to a remarkable start, having become the most-streamed album in a single day in 2024.

Grande has described the album as a “kind of concept album” that comprises “different heightened pieces of the same story, of the same experience.” The lead single, “Yes, And?” debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Grande’s Instagram post comes ahead of her appearance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where she is expected to perform some of the tracks from Eternal Sunshine. The episode will be hosted by the esteemed Dune star Josh Brolin.

In her recent Instagram post, Grande implored her fans to spread love and positivity instead of hate. She reminded them that the hateful messages they post on social media can hurt people’s feelings and cause actual harm. Grande’s message was a heartfelt appeal to her fans to show empathy and kindness, values she has always championed in her music and personal life.

She wrote on her Instagram Story,

“I just wanted to say, anyone that is sending a hateful message to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album,”

“It is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage. (And is also entirely misinterpreting the intention behind the music). I ask that you please do not. It is not how to support me. It is the opposite. Although this album captures a lot of painful moments, it also is woven together with a though line of deep, sincere love. If you cannot hear that, please listen more closely.”
