Billie Eilish Claims ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ As Her “most genuine thing” Ever Made

According to Billie Eilish, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” her most recent album, seems like “the most genuine thing” she’s ever done. Earlier this week, on May 21, the 22-year-old singer appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she discussed her thoughts towards her third studio album. She called the album her most genuine work to date. It was what she told the late-night chat show host. Eilish also mentioned that she felt more confident and comfortable in her skin while creating this album, allowing her to be more vulnerable and authentic in her music. This authenticity is reflected in the emotional depth and raw honesty of the songs on “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”

“I think that with ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, it’s the first time since I’ve been an adult and maybe ever in my kind of creative life,” “It truly is the most genuine thing I’ve ever made.”.

“It feels very, very me and it feels like all of the music is exactly who I am. All the visuals are exactly who I am, and that’s honestly terrifying. That’s why I’m literally shaking right now!”

Speaking further about the reasons behind her feelings of liberation from the LP, Eilish revealed that she had felt a little boxed following the massive success of her 2019 breakout single, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” She continued by saying that, as a result, she overcompensated on the 2021 follow-up, “Happier Than Ever.” It was only in retrospect that she realized she was more concerned with trying to prove something to her audience than being herself, even if she acknowledged that the sophomore album felt “very me” at the time. Eilish expressed that this realization led her to prioritize authenticity and vulnerability in her music. She emphasized the importance of staying true to herself and her artistic vision rather than succumbing to external pressures or expectations.

At another point in her appearance on The Late Show, Eilish talked about the efforts she took to replicate the image on the album cover and gave a live performance of her new song, “Lunch,” which was released as the second track on “Hit Me Hard and Soft.” To capture the moment, the singer claimed that she was completely covered in layers of clothing and had a weight connected to her to submerge her in a 10-foot container of water. After the album was released, Eilish said she would visit the UK in July 2024 and 2025 as part of a massive world tour. The singer also mentioned that she would be collaborating with several artists on new music projects in the coming years. This announcement excites fans for what will come from Billie Eilish in the future.
