Brandy Discusses Her First Christmas Album And Working With Her Daughter, Sy’Rai

November 10, 2023 saw the release of veteran US R&B singer, Brandy’s most recent album, “Christmas With Brandy,” just in time for the holidays. The singer chatted with Billboard News about her newest release, which features soulful renditions of seasonal favorites including “Jingle Bells,” “Deck the Halls,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

She also discussed the collaboration with her 21-year-old daughter, Sy’Rai. Speaking to Gail Mitchell, Billboard‘s executive director, R&B/hip-hop, Brandy said she couldn’t believe she finally has a Christmas album under her belt, seeing as she’s always loved Christmas carols.

She also gave major props to her team, who assisted her in the project’s curation. She gave a big shout-out to the songwriters who helped the creative process and the producers who did a fantastic job in helping her put her own spin on old Christmas classics.

Although there are twelve tracks on the album, some other additional songs had to be axed. For this, Brandy claims that some of the content of those tracks that did not make the cut will be more beneficial for other projects.

Sy’Rai, Brandy’s daughter, also appears on the record in the song “Christmas Gift,” a duet that the 44-year-old is proud of since her daughter aspires to be like her. Brandy said she loved their melodies as a duo and thought their voices sounded great together.
