Common’s New Album With Pete Rock Gets Hype As Release Date Draws Closer

Common has been widely recognized for his exceptional talent for delivering classic collabos and albums since his entrance into the hip-hop world years ago. The Chicago-based rapper has consistently remained relevant across multiple decades by collaborating with top-notch producers. In a recent update, Common shared that he has been working with the legendary producer, Pete Rock, in the studio. The rapper confidently stated that the music they are currently developing is among the best of their respective careers.

During a panel discussion at MusiCares in Santa Monica on April 22, Common appeared alongside fellow Chicago artist Lupe Fiasco. The rapper shared that his upcoming album has received positive feedback from those who have heard it. Some people have even claimed that it could be one of his best albums. However, since the album is yet to be released, Common picked “Resurrection” (1994) as his third-best album.

Common and Pete Rock have not had many opportunities to collaborate in the past. However, their track record proves that they have great chemistry. The duo worked together on De La Soul’s 1996 album “Tha Bizness” and on “Verbal Murder 2” from Rock’s 1998 joint album Soul Survivor. Their most famous song together is 1994’s “The B*tch in Yoo,” which was a diss record aimed at Ice Cube and remains one of Common’s most lyrically aggressive showcases. Despite having different points in their respective careers, the pair has managed to create some great music together.
