He told the party,

“After Shatta Wale sent me the song, he said, ‘Yo, we’ve been friends for years and I’ve not done anything for you before. This song, I’m giving it to you 100%.’ He took nothing. He’s a cool guy.”

“You know the brain is split into two when you look at it from the front. It inspired the idea of splitting the album into two parts,”

‘Basketmouth’s third studio album, Uburu, meaning “brain” in Igbo, follows the successful releases of Yabasi in 2020 and Horoscopes in 2022. Divided into two parts, each consisting of seven songs, listeners can expect the first chapter to be available for streaming from October 20. The second part is anticipated to be released in February 2024.

The second track on Uburu’s official album is “Party” featuring Peruzzi, which is also the lead single.

“Party is just vibes. We had this beat for about two years looking for who to give us the right melody to make it work because the beat is a monster. It’s one of the best beats I’ve heard,”

The celebrated entertainer couldn’t stop raving about his upcoming project, Jolie Jollof, and expressed his excitement about how it would captivate his fans. He revealed that he had been relentlessly pursuing Lojay, a highly skilled artist, to feature on the track, and his persistence paid off. Lojay poured his heart and soul into the project, working tirelessly to ensure it was outstanding. The artist even described Lojay’s work ethic as animalistic in his determination to make the project a resounding success.

“Lojay gave us about six different vibes for one song. He did all six in one take each and they were all hits. We all agreed Jolie was the one,”

Basketmouth initially reached out to Tiwa Savage to feature on the “Cover Me” track for Uburu, but unfortunately, she was unavailable due to touring commitments. He then explored the possibility of Ayra Starr filling the spot but encountered the same challenge. After a long wait of two years since Victony’s delivery, Qing Madi was ultimately chosen to lend her voice to the track. The album also features three other songs, namely “Koko”, “Chasing Dreams”, and “Link Up” by Boj and Duncan Mighty.

Basketmouth said,

“Link Up was supposed to be on Horoscopes but I pulled it out because it’s special to me,”

The album was enriched by the contributions of Bayanni, Duktor Sett, Falz, Laycon, Timi Dakolo, Torrian Bell, Paladin, and Reminisce, who each brought their unique talents and creativity to the project.
