In his response, Davido recalled how Rema used to hang out in his living room as a younger lad and commented on how quickly he had become famous thanks to his most well-known Afrobeat song in history. The 30-year-old musician added that many African individuals use afrobeats (Music) music to escape poverty and praised the tenacity, ambition, and perseverance of the acts in the genre to get it to where it is today.

He said,

“I saw Rema in New York two days ago. And I hugged him and I was like ‘I’m so proud of you’. Because I remember him coming to my house with D’Prince back then. And chilling quietly in my living room. “He didn’t say a word, not knowing that he is going to have the highest charting Afrobeats song ever [on Billboard Hot 100] with ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez. That is crazy!” “You know, he’s just a kid from Benin and then you see that happen, it makes you like believe in miracles,”

He also sent a Happy Birthday/congratulatory message on social media to the Rave-Of-The-Moment, who also has an Indian Tour to embark on soon.

This is his only show in the UK this year. It is the first time he’s returned to London after his outstanding performance at the sold-out O2 Brixton event with Fireboy, Victony, and Dave. Rema’s performance follows the release of Rave & Roses Ultra, a deluxe edition of his album from 2022, Rave & Roses. The 22-track album includes joint efforts with Selena Gomez, 6lack, Chris Brown, AJ Tracey, and Yseult.

The album has received more than 1 billion Spotify streams since its release, making it the first African album in history to do so. In addition, the highest-peaking Nigerian song ever, his international hit tune Calm Down from the album, is now at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rema adds his name to the expanding list of Nigerian performers who have graced the world-famous O2 Arena, including Asake, Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
