Davido Speaks On Marrying Chioma; Says “We Had To Be Ready For What Was Coming”

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, had disclosed that he and Chioma Rowland were in the midst of their grief over the loss of their 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, when they decided to get married. According to Media reports, the singer and Chioma agreed to get married to stand by one another and maintain their family’s strength during this trying time.

Davido, who released his eagerly awaited record “Timeless” on Friday, 31st March, admitted that he had recently overcome many difficulties. However, he explained that he had to stand firm beside her to help Chioma through their challenging circumstance as her lover and husband.

Davido said,

“At that moment, we went through a lot together and we had to be there for each other to get through that moment and be ready for what was coming-Timeless. Now that we have crossed over that moment, it is time to show the world that I am ready for this

The Afrobeat sensation disclosed that “Timeless” underwent at least three iterations before the final form. Although the album includes several upbeat, energetic songs, the singer admitted that losing his son affected the project.

He said:

“Before my son passed on, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation, and I really had to calm myself down and take a step back.”

“On the album, you will hear a couple of songs that might take you back and into some emotions … you will definitely hear me talk about a couple of things I’ve been through personally.”
