Davido Rings Out Special Advice To Up-And-Coming Stars

The well-known Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has shared his thoughts with the music business and encouraged upcoming artists to embrace uniqueness in their artistic endeavors, sparking a flurry of conversations and reactions on social media.

The  DMW boss and OBO crooner took listeners on a journey down memory lane as he talked about how he moved to Nigeria to pursue music that was unlike anything heard in the West. Davido mentioned that the distinctive sound he developed in Nigeria finally made him a superstar when he returned to the United States, contributing his quota to the spread of Afrobeats globally. He advised aspiring artists to constantly ensure that their work makes a unique impression. On Friday, Davido shared a video message on his X handle, saying,

“If I could give advice to aspiring musicians, just be original.

“I used to live in America. I could have stayed just done what everybody else was doing. My calling was to go back home [Nigeria] and represent the culture [Afrobeats] and eventually, it still brought me back out here. But everybody else has their own path. The most important thing is be original.”
