French Montana Makes Grammy Claim; Says His New Year Hit ‘Ball Drop’ Collabo With Fabolous Deserved Award

Fans of French Montana will be wondering why their fave is beginning the year with a slight dig at the Grammys. French Montana recently shared his disappointment over not receiving a Grammy for his collaborative track “Ball Drop” with Fabolous in 2014. The song was featured on Fabolous’ album “The Young OG Project” and was released in December 2014, accompanied by an official music video in March the following year. “Ball Drop” is a New Year ‘s-themed song highlighting the duo’s rapping prowess over an infectious beat. The track received positive reviews from fans and critics alike and was a commercial success, charting on the Billboard Hot 100.

On New Year’s Day, after nine years since the song’s release, French Montana shared a screenshot of the video on his Instagram Story. In the post, he expressed his belief that the song deserved a Grammy and that he and Fabolous were robbed of their rightful recognition. Although the song did not receive a Grammy, it remains a fan favourite and a staple on New Year’s Eve playlists. In his post, French said,

“This record deserves a Grammy @myfabolouslife,”

“Happy new years to all the hustlers worldwide. Haaannnnn.”

After sharing the post on The Hip Hop Wolf, Fab left a comment with prayer hands and a black heart emoji.

“We don’t need their validation, @frenchmontana.!! We got an NYE classic forever.. The culture gon play it or hear it every year & that’s enough reward for me,”
