Headies ‘Rookie of the Year’ Nominees Odumodublvck, Khaid Trade Words Over Who Is More Deserving In Social Media Exchange

Recent nominations for Headies’ 2023 awards show have already seen some of the nominees trade words against one another, including Blaqbonez and TG Omori, Fans of Asake’s dominance and Wizkid’s exclusion, and now Odumodublvk and Khaid.

On Friday, the up-and-coming musician Khaid and the blown Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, aka Odumodublvck, engaged in a social media battle for supremacy. The pair argued over who had a better chance of winning the 16th annual Headies Award’s Rookie of the Year category nomination.

The war of words started with Twitter influencer Asiwaju Lerry asking netizens who would go home with the award if it were down to Khaid and Odumodublvck alone. The Duo were nominated alongside Eltee Skhillz, Bayanni, Guchi, and Bloody Civilian, whose names were not mentioned in Lerry’s tweet. This sparked a heated debate among netizens, with some arguing that Khaid’s unique style makes him more deserving. In contrast, others praised Odumodublvck’s catchy melodies, lyrical prowess, and ability to connect with listeners on a deeper level. The discussion quickly spread across social media platforms, with fans passionately defending their favourite artist and predicting who would win the coveted award. Asiwaju’s tweet read.,

“If Headies Rookie of the year was down to Khaid and Odumodu, who is winning?”

In response, Khaid claimed that the statistics and figures speak for themselves and that if people did the math, they would realize that he deserved it. In his tweet, Khaid said,

“Evian pass Evian, Check d numbers & do the math”

The tweet offended the Declan Rice singer, who threatened to “knock the Head” of the singer in what many would love to see as a “playful jab.”

Soon after, in a subtle dig at his most recent encounter at LASU, the ‘Jolie’ hitmaker used the Hip Hop artist’s lyrics to mock him, saying,

“Ebelebe Runner…Na me be your father”

Then Khaid swiped at those who criticized his lyrics as “weak,” telling them to improve themselves because they are “worthless in the grand scheme of things.” His words were:

“It’s good that people learn to respect and work on themselves; those weak lyrics are performing better than your entire existence ??. 18 year old boy wey de tension una ?”
