Julia Michaels Talks Music, Discusses Her Experience Writing For Disney’s ‘Wish’

During a recent interview with Billboard’s Rania Aniftos, Julia Michaels, the talented young songwriter behind “Wish,” a Disney film, shared insights into the process of making the movie’s soundtracks. As the youngest female songwriter to work on a Disney film, Michaels felt honoured to participate in the project. She opened up about her experiences and challenges while working on the project, giving a detailed account of the process of writing songs for a Disney movie.

“It was such an honor. I grew up watching Disney and listening to Disney,” “The first time I saw Wish as a movie with all the songs in it, I was like, oh my gosh, this is going to live longer than me. This exists now and there’s going to be littles all over the world that are going to feel connected to these songs and they’re going to grow up with these songs like I grew up with my Disney songs. Wrapping my head around that has been so deeply surreal.”

During an interview, Michaels revealed that she plans to work on music in the upcoming year, hinting at a possible new album or project. When asked about her journey as a songwriter and artist, she reflected on how far she has come and wondered what her younger self would think of her current accomplishments. Michaels expressed gratitude for the opportunities she has had and the support of her fans, and she emphasized her commitment to continue creating meaningful and authentic music.

“Little me wouldn’t even understand that. I come from a very chaotic, broken family. I didn’t come from money. I didn’t come from anything.”  “I’ve been writing with a lot of people again, which has been really good for the soul,”
