Kate Bush Unveiled As U.K.’s Record Store Day 2024 Ambassador

Iconic British singer, Kate Bush, has been selected ambassador for the United Kingdom’s Record Store Day 2024, following an improbable global massive success that took 37 years to achieve and a long-overdue entry into the Rock Hall. Rarely does the English vocalist make an appearance on TV or radio.

On her personal website, she states that accepting the invitation to be an ambassador for RSD is “a huge honor.” “It is truly a wonderful honor.” The “Wuthering Heights” vocalist has always been a lifelong fan of vinyl. The albums, which included her debut The Kick Inside, the remix album Director’s Cut, and the U.K. No. 1 hits Hounds of Love and Never for Ever, were reissued on wax by her label Fish People last year.

The reclaimed audio from a 2018 campaign—which included tracks never before published on wax—features on those reissues. The campaign saw Bush’s complete discography issued on vinyl across four box sets. Bush’s reappearance is legendary. “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),” a song by Bush from 1985, shot back to the top of the charts thanks to the fourth season of Stranger Things.

She was at the top of the Hot 100 Songwriters Chart by the middle of 2022, and the song spent many weeks at the top of the charts in Australia and the United Kingdom, where she became the oldest female artist to top the Official U.K. Singles Chart at the age of 63 years and 11 months.
