Kendrick Lamar Debuts New Song In Chanel Short Film

In a short film announcing Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture presentation next week, Kendrick Lamar delivers brand-new music.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell and actresses Margaret Qualley and Anna Mouglalis star in The Button, a joint venture between the fashion titans and the rapper and Dave Free’s “service company,” pgLang.

Lamar composed the music for The Button, which features a sneak peek at an unreleased song, while Free scripted and directed the three-minute black-and-white short.

Lamar’s song gets viewers excited as they are ready to accompany the actress on her search for the misplaced fastener. The company shared a summary of the partnership on pgLang’s official Instagram.

A notice on the internet states that the full length of the movie will be unveiled on Tuesday, January 23, at 2:00 PM Paris time, during Chanel’s haute couture presentation for spring/summer 2024.

pgLang, which Lamar and Free founded in 2020 after the rapper left Top Dawg Entertainment, recently hinted to a collaboration with Chanel at the 2023 Paris Fashion Week. The Button is also Kendrick Lamar’s first new song since his double-LP Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers from 2022.

However, he did contribute to a few songs, including Baby Keem’s “The Hillbillies,” Beyonce’s “America Has a Problem” remix, and a remixed version of “Bad Blood” for Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) released in 2023.
