Loretta Lynn Is Honored By Kelly Clarkson And Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson In A Song

But on October 17, when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joined Kelly onstage to open the broadcast, viewers got to see a very unique karaoke session. The pair performed “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’,” a 1967 Loretta Lynn standard, in tribute to the late singer, who passed away on October 4.

The fact that the song is from Lynn’s ninth studio album demonstrates just how long it took the country icon to achieve her first number one on the Hot Country Songs charts. But it was undoubtedly not her last. Over the course of her six decade career, she scored 15 additional number ones. At the age of 90, The Coal Miners Daughter passed away quietly in her sleep, and condolences have poured in from all corners of the music industry.

The duet was also promoted on the show’s official Twitter, which read: “An extra special #Kellyoke duet with Dwayne @therock Johnson in memory of the late, great @LorettaLynn.”

While some people might be surprised to learn that Johnson can sing well, others will recall that he already had his own hit on the charts with the song “You’re Welcome” from the 2016 Disney picture Moana.
