Method Man Shares Thoughts On Actors Trying Out “The 2Pac Role” Following BMF Backlash

Fans of the BMF show have expressed their deep frustration with the show’s casting and portrayal of 2Pac. Actor Mason Douglas, who plays the role of the iconic rapper, has been criticized for not looking enough like 2Pac, with many fans feeling that he only bears a passing resemblance to the late rapper. The show’s costume department has also been criticized for failing to capture the essence of 2Pac’s style. Fans have described the outfit as looking like a cheap Halloween costume, which has added to their disappointment. The criticism has been so intense that many fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment in the show’s depiction of 2Pac. Some fans have even used the term “WhoPac” on clips from the latest episode to express dissatisfaction. It’s important to note that the story of BMF doesn’t heavily rely on 2Pac’s character. However, the rapper’s association with the notorious crime organization is enough to warrant a brief cameo appearance as the story unfolds.

In a recent interview with ‘7 Am in Brooklyn,’ rapper and actor Method Man shared his thoughts on actors who have attempted to portray 2Pac, including Anthony Mackie, who played 2Pac in the 2009 film Notorious. Method Man revealed that most actors trying to capture 2Pac’s essence have fallen short. This is understandable, given the larger-than-life persona that 2Pac had and its impact on the music industry.

Method Man said,

“Anthony Mackie, brilliant f-cking actor. I love him and he deserves all the accolades that he gets. Except for that 2Pac role. I ain’t like that shit. You shouldn’t have took that one, bro. Your agent, I hope you got rid of that n-gga,”

“For somebody to really embody 2Pac, nothing against my boy [Demetrius] Shipp, the brother didn’t really have a lot to work with. I heard they didn’t get a blessing from 2Pac’s mom as well. He had a lot of obstacles in his way, so we cannot blame him for that performance. You have to really embody, not just the rap part or the thug part, but his whole mentality, his aura. Everything about him was just different from anything we’d seen before,”

Clearly, fans of the BMF show are passionate about their love for 2Pac and are disappointed that the show hasn’t lived up to their expectations regarding the rapper’s portrayal. However, it’s essential to remember that adapting such an iconic figure for the screen is no easy feat, and the show’s creators are likely doing their best to do justice to 2Pac’s legacy.
