After Usher’s embrace with Alicia Keys during their performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, the internet was abuzz with criticism. However, Usher has finally spoken up and clarified that there was no ill intent behind the way he held onto the iconic singer after performing “My Boo.” In an interview with The Breakfast Club, he explained that he, Keys, and Swizz Beatz are all on good terms regarding the situation. Usher also noted that they have “absolutely” shared a laugh about it recently.

Despite the backlash, Swizz Beatz, who is married to Alicia Keys, took to Instagram to dispel the fans’ speculations of disrespect and other conjectures. He stated that he is very cool with Usher and had some praise for the duo’s performance. Alicia Keys wasn’t the only artist welcomed to the stage. Ludacris, H.E.R., and others also made appearances. Usher’s embrace of Alicia Keys has continued to trend on social media, with many criticizing the way he held onto her. However, Usher’s response sheds light on the fact that no malice was intended.

Usher said,

“In no way is there anything that was done there that should have been viewed as bad or in any way perverted or anything like that,”

“No, it was literally about having fun because of a song that me and Alicia made many years ago and we celebrated it because of the legacy of it. No disrespect to anybody or anything like that.”
