Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” Earns UK Singles Chart Accolade

In 2023, Miley Cyrus released her eighth studio album, “Endless Summer Vacation,” under Columbia, which was a chart-topping success. The lead track from the album, “Flowers,” became the UK’s biggest single that year, achieving 198 million combined audio and video streams in the UK, according to data published by the Official Charts Company. The song spent ten weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart, earning 1.7 million UK chart units since its release in January 2023. Additionally, “Flowers” had the most downloads, with 91,000, leading all the year’s tracks. Dave and Central Cee’s “Sprinter” (via Live Yours/Neighbourhood) secured the second spot on the OCC’s ranking of the biggest tracks for 2023. The song spent ten consecutive weeks at No. 1 and garnered 161 million audio and video streams in the UK. “Sprinter” ended 2023 with 1.2 million UK chart units, setting a new record for the biggest streaming week for a rap single in the UK since its release in June. In its first tracking week, “Sprinter” had 13.4 million streams and 108,200 chart units.

Moving on to the top-performing singles in the UK for 2023, Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” topped the list with 2.9 million chart units, including 337 million audio and video streams. Adele’s “Easy On Me” followed closely, with 2.4 million units, including 287 million streams. Raye and 070 Shake’s “Escapism” (Human Re Sources) secured the third spot with 1.2 million total UK chart units, which includes 142 million audio and video streams. Taylor Swift had two singles on the list: “Anti-Hero” at No. 4 and “Cruel Summer” at No. 11. The latter was initially released as part of her 2019 album ‘Lover’, but was finally issued as a single in 2023, peaking at No. 2 on the weekly chart.
