Omah Lay Admits That His first Hit Song Left Him Feeling Depressed

Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, claimed in a recent interview with media personality Adesope Olajide on Afrobeats Podcast that he had a difficult time adjusting to his fast ascent to prominence, which led to a negative mental state.

He stated this when asked if he felt pressured after the publication of his hit single, Bad Influence, which achieved international notoriety in early 2020 when his self-produced single went viral on social media, and how he managed the pressure. He also lamented the fact that after Mohbad’s passing, things have been gradually returning to normal.

He then took the opportunity to urge people to lead fulfilling lives. He counseled individuals to put their happiness first and claimed that after grieving, people eventually move on.

In addition, the musician previously admitted that he had considered suicide while suffering from depression, which is consistent with his remarks in his interview with Adesope. The ‘Soso’ singer opened up about his struggles with mental health and how he incorporates his battle with depression into his songs during an interview with H Steph.

Omah Lay claimed that suffering through sadness was divine since it gave him the opportunity to support those who are now depressed. The 25-year-old added that he would keep writing sincere songs about his experiences.
