Rexxie Solicits Help After Being Arrested In Uganda

Nigerian music producer, Rexxie, has disclosed that he has been detained by Ugandan immigration officials and is requesting assistance.

The musician made this known on his Instagram page on Monday, March 11, 2024. His message read: “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration, please I need help.” Rexxie emphasized that his arrest was unjust, despite without disclosing the circumstances behind it or the accusations made against him.

Worried admirers and followers questioned what precipitated his detention in the comment section.  Other commentators asked for more details regarding the events involving Rexxie and the immigration from Uganda. Rexxie was arrested just a few days after he joyfully declared on his Instagram account that he was proposing to his fiancée, Innocent Chisom, in Kenya.

There have been no new posts on Rexxie’s social media since his plea for help. It’s important to remember that this run-in with Ugandan law enforcement is not exclusive to the Grammy-winning producer. In 2020, when the COVID-19 limitations were disregarded and singers Tems and Omah Lay were also taken into custody.

The artists were jailed after the authorities declared their performance at a concert to be unauthorized at the time. After two days of being held in custody, the singers were charged in court and eventually released.
