Tar1q Unveiled As Chocolate City Music’s Newest Signee

Tar1q, an up-and-coming pop artist, has joined the roster of Nigerian record company Chocolate City. The artist will be working at the company alongside rappers Candy Bleakz and Blaqbonez, as well as singer and producer Young Jonn, according to the news, which was released on March 12.

The company, which was started in 2005 by Nigerian lawyer and creative entrepreneur Audu Maikori, is recognized for having influenced the careers of several artists, including rappers MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, and Brymo, as well as Pryse, Nosa, and Dice Ailes.

Discovered by the label in 2021, Tar1q was signed to Nu Trybe Records as an incubator artist under the Chocolate City banner before settling down at Chocolate City. Over the course of his career, he has evolved from a rapper to a multi-talented singer who can be heard fusing pop, hip hop, vintage R&B, and modern Afrobeats. Legends like Davido, J.Cole, Wizkid, and Sade were influences on Tar1q, who calls his own sound “Afro-rhythm.”

Along with well-received hits like “Signal,” “Bad Intentions,” and “Away,” he is the man behind the Son of the Moon EP. An exciting new chapter in the music industry is ready to begin thanks to the collaboration between Tar1q’s artistic vision and Chocolate City’s dedication to innovation.
