Tiwa Savage Reveals Her “First Love” Was Acting Before Music

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Tiwa Savage has returned to her first love, acting, and embraced her boss lady persona.

Tiwa Savage spoke on NewsLive Prime on ABC News with Maggie Rulls prior to the May 10 release of her debut film, “Water & Garri,” to discuss the movie and the process of writing its soundtrack. She also discussed her passion for acting, the creative process of filming the movie, and more about her role as fashion designer Aisha.

She underlined the effect of Afrobeats on pop culture globally and talked about it during her interview with ABC. Tiwa Savage also talked about her love of acting, saying that it was her first love, and how happy she was to be back in the business. She went on to say that her next movie would be a big step forward and a culmination of her career.

An ambitious fashion designer named Aisha (played by Tiwa Savage) returns to her hometown after ten years away in the United States due to a family tragedy in the story “Water & Garri,” which is directed by Meji Alabi and produced by Tiwa Savage herself.

She manages getting back in touch with family, old acquaintances, and a prior love while coping with the changes in her native country—increasing violence and tensions. The movie also stars Andrew Bunting, Jemima Osunde, and Mike Afolarin in addition to Tiwa.
