US Rapper, Jeezy, Files For Divorce From His Wife, Jeannie Mai

The union of Jeezy and Jeannie Mai is breaking up.

The rapper whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins filed for divorce in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court on Thursday, The Times reported. Legal papers claim that Jeezy and Mai “are currently living in a bona fide state of separation.” The 45-year-old Jeezy and the 44-year-old Mai’s representatives did not immediately reply to separate requests for comment from The Times on Friday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution broke the news of the divorce, and now Jeezy is suing for shared legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco. Additionally, a prenuptial agreement was signed by the couple, according to court records. Mai, a former co-host of “The Real,” married Jeezy in March 2021 after meeting on the set of the now-defunct daytime talk show.

They had their daughter a year later. The divorce comes months after Mai discussed her life as a wife and mother on the “Jennifer Hudson Show” in May. During her interview on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Mai also discussed encouraging her kid, who is Black and Vietnamese, to “own who she is.” She explained that Monaco divides her time between her parents’ families, Jeezy’s in Atlanta and Mai’s in the Bay Area.
