Wiz Khalifa Says Incoming “Kush & OJ 2” Will Be A “Classic”

Wiz Khalifa is a highly accomplished musician with a successful career marked by several pop crossovers and classic singles. However, the project that stands out most in showcasing his talent is Kush & OJ, a mixtape released in 2010. This mixtape was an impeccable blend of stoner culture, luxurious production, smooth talk, and retro glamour that still sounds amazing today. This is why Khalifa’s fans are understandably curious about his announcement of a sequel and whether it will match the original’s standards.

Recently, Wiz Khalifa took to Twitter amid diss tracks and AI-generated leaks to promote his upcoming album. He confidently used “classic” to describe his new project and claimed that Kush & OJ 2 would also be a classic. He wrote, “I can’t wait for y’all to enjoy.” The idea of creating a “classic” has been on Khalifa’s mind for a while, particularly when asked to reflect on the original mixtape. In a 2015 retrospective video with MTV, he revealed that he had every intention of making Kush & OJ a career-defining release. The result was a mixtape that resonated with fans and critics alike and cemented Khalifa’s status as a leading artist. Khalifa’s confidence in Kush & OJ 2 being another classic is understandable, given his record of producing high-quality music. He has consistently pushed himself to create unique and memorable music, and Kush & OJ 2 is no exception. While fans eagerly await the sequel’s release, only time will tell if it lives up to the hype and surpasses the original mixtape.

Khalifa told the outlet,

“It’s pretty cool that everybody labels that as my classic,”  “Cause I put a lot of time and energy into it. To know that it came off exactly how I wanted it to and put me where I wanted to be in my career is really dope.”

The famous rapper, known by his fans as “Roll Up,”  is reportedly working on a sequel to his highly successful album Kush & OJ. If the rapper captures the same magic that made the original album an instant classic, the new release will join the elite group of sequels that have managed to live up to their predecessors. This group includes legendary albums such as 2001, Tha Carter II, and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Pt. II. In the past, Khalifa, the rapper behind the project, has given mixed signals about the possibility of a Kush & OJ sequel. During a 2014 interview with The Fader, he dismissed the idea, stating that the original album was created during a specific time in his life and that it wouldn’t make sense to try to recreate that same energy. However, times have changed, and the rapper has changed his mind. The highly anticipated Kush & OJ 2 is already in the mixing and mastering stage, so fans will soon have to decide if the new album lives up to its predecessor’s “classic” status.

“You know, at the end of the day, I don’t think I could ever do that again,”  “Because that was brand new. You could never be brand new all over again.”
