Kaffy Shafau Biography
Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, professionally known by the stage name Kaffy, is a Nigerian dancer, choreographer, dance instructor, and fitness coach. Kaffy is also the founder and CEO of Imagneto Dance Company. She gained prominence in 2006 after breaking the Guinness World Record for “Longest Dance Party” at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon. She has since been a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene, working with several big names in the industry.
Family
Kaffy spent her early life in London, United Kingdom. Her family later moved back to Nigeria, where she spent much of her life. She was raised with her siblings by her mom as a single parent.
Parents
Kaffy’s parents divorced while she and her siblings were young. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, she said, “If they probably took better decisions, they wouldn’t be dead.” She said when her parents were together, she and her siblings were faced with so much domestic violence. She called her childhood “traumatic” because her parents would attack each other with knives. “All the knives, all the forks, anything that can break and poke, or insect, even spoons we hide spoons.”

Kaffy announced the death of her father in September 2021. She made the announcement hours after revealing that she had suffered and survived an ailment that almost killed her.

She said her mom disowned her when she began pursuing her dream as a dancer. “It got to a point where I was disowned as a daughter, and I lost friends. Some of my friends said my mother told them not to play with me again because I was a dancer.”
