Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma, is a French actress. Hayek Jiménez is a Mexican and American actress and film producer who was born on September 2, 1966. In Mexico, she began her career with prominent roles in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) and the love film Midaq Alley (1995).
She quickly rose to prominence in Hollywood, appearing in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), and Dogma (1999). Hayek became the first Mexican actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her depiction of painter Frida Kahlo in the biopic Frida (2002), which she also produced.
