The Acclaimed Actress Discusses Balancing Stardom and Motherhood
Salma Hayek, the renowned actress celebrated for her roles in films like “Frida” and “Desperado,” recently opened up about the challenges of balancing her illustrious career with her responsibilities as a mother. In a candid conversation on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast, Hayek addressed the possibility of starring in HBO’s hit series, “The White Lotus.” While expressing her admiration for the show’s creator, Mike White, with whom she previously collaborated on the 2017 comedy “Beatriz at Dinner,” Hayek revealed her reservations about committing to a TV series at this juncture in her life.
The primary reason for her hesitation? Her commitment to being present for her 15-year-old daughter, Valentina, and her husband, François-Henri Pinault. Hayek emphasized the importance of being there for her family, including their pets and managing their household. The idea of saying, “OK, bye. I’m gonna do a series. See you in three months, in four months,” is something she can’t fathom at the moment.
Valentina, Salma’s only child with Pinault, has already made waves in the entertainment world. Last year, she graced the cover of Vogue’s Mexican edition alongside her mother. In the accompanying interview, Valentina expressed her aspirations of becoming both an actress and a director. However, she also highlighted her passion for philanthropy, sharing her experiences volunteering at a soup kitchen and her deep concern for global issues, particularly homelessness.
Fashion also plays a significant role in the mother-daughter duo’s relationship.
