Simi Addresses Female Competition In Music While Promoting Harmony

Nigerian singer Simi recently discussed the tense atmosphere of female competition in the music business.

Simi spoke on the negative impacts of female rivalry in music during a recent visit on a foreign podcast hosted by Angela Yee on Tuesday, May 7. In her podcast commentary, Simi emphasized how competitiveness can grow unnecessarily, leading to tension and distractions. She stressed that female artists should stick together because she believes female artists can all succeed without turning to competition.

The “Duduke” singer also mentioned how competition among artists is heightened when new talent appears and is compared to older artists. Nevertheless, she applauded female musicians working together, expressing gratitude in particular for her own collaboration with Tiwa Savage.

The conversation comes after Simi responded to provocative comments made about her by singer Brymo and producer Samklef. Samklef caused controversy when he earlier claimed to be the reason behind Simi’s success on X. Simi, however, shot down the accusations, responding that she had no idea who Samklef was.

Simi also stated that she didn’t feel the need to give a rebuttal to their clout-chasing comments about her since her husband, Adekunle Gold, was already fiercely standing up for her at every turn.
