Afro Nation Highlights Afrobeats And Amapiano In A New Video Release

The organizers of Afro Nation, the largest Afrobeats festival globally, have unveiled a brand-new short documentary that highlights the genres of amapiano and Afrobeats.

The 17-minute documentary, “Afro Nation: A Movement,” which was produced by Malachite Group and captured at the 2023 Afro Nation Portugal event beachside in Praia da Rocha, Portimão, is now currently accessible on YouTube. Every year, over 40,000 attendees from over 130 countries attend Afro Nation, which takes place in various parts of the world.

Alongside international pop stars like Chris Brown and Megan Thee Stallion, Beenie Man, and Popcaan, among others, headliners over the years have included a long list of prominent African acts, including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Rema, Major League DJz, Uncle Waffles, Kamo Mphela, DJ Maphorisa, and Stonebwoy.

Together with performances by musicians including The Compozers (Ghana/UK), Camidoh (Ghana), Black Sherif (Ghana), Musa Keys (South Africa), and Kamo Mphela (South Africa), the video features interviews with the festival creators, SMADE and Obi Asika. Broadcasters Adesope “Shopsydoo” Olajide (of Nigeria) and Eddie Kadi (of the UK and Congo) also provide their perspectives on modern African pop music and the event’s continuing influence worldwide.
