Ariana Grande Shares Her First Impression At Idea Of Remaking Brandy & Monica’s Smash Hit “The Boy Is Mine”
Ariana Grande has finally released her much-anticipated new album, Eternal Sunshine, which marks her return after 2020’s Positions. The album’s lead single, “Yes, and?”, skyrocketed to the top spot on the Hot 100 and remained in the top 30 after several weeks. To celebrate her album’s release, Grande sat down with Zane Lowe from Apple Music to discuss the project’s most significant details. During the interview, she talked about the track “The Boy Is Mine,” which drew heavily from the Brandy and Monica hit song of the same name. The original music spent 13 weeks at number one on the Hot 100 and won a Grammy. Grande admitted that she initially hesitated to add her spin to this legendary song but eventually found a way to make it her own.
She said,
“I love that song. I’ve always wanted to reimagine that song in some way. I was kind of like, ‘This is a very bad idea.’ But there is a large group of my fans that really do love a bad girl anthem, and this is kind of an elevated version of that,”
