BBNaija All-Stars 2023: Venita Opens Up On Domestic Abuse From Biological Father While Growing Up

Venita Akpofure, a Big Brother Naija “All Stars” housemate, has disclosed that she experienced domestic violence as a child. In a conversation with her love interest, Adekunle, in Big Brother’s garden, the mother of two made this revelation.

According to Venita, her father shoved her down the stairs and hit her with blunt and sharp objects. He kept her outside the house for about three hours, she added. She did, however, add that he had been intoxicated when she was introduced at her wedding and had given a speech about how he regularly thought about saying sorry to her for being abusive. She claimed her father was strict and that she might have thought he was punishing her, but in his statement at her wedding, he acknowledged that only she, out of all his children, had ever experienced physical abuse.

In her words;

“So my dad was abusive, especially towards me and he will hit me with wires, objects, knives and once he me down the stairs and locked me outside in the snow for three hours. His dad was very harsh, so I think he thought what he was doing was right. So at my introduction, he actually got drunk and said a speech about how he’s always wanted to apologize to me, out of all his children, I was the only one he was physical and violent with the most.”
