Black Artists In Country Music: Tamar Braxton And K. Michelle Trade Words

In the music world, Beyonce’s album Cowboy Carter was one of the most anticipated releases earlier this year. It is the second album in her Renaissance trilogy, where she explores different genres of music. This time, Beyonce focused on country music. While she’s not the first artist to attempt a transition into this genre, many fans compared her album to K. Michelle’s. This resulted in accusations of plagiarism, which were mostly settled until Tamar Braxton’s recent comments on a podcast.

During the podcast, Braxton addressed the need for black artists to cross over into country music to represent the culture carefully. Although K. Michelle’s name was not mentioned during the discussion, Michelle felt slighted and responded with a Twitter tirade, defending herself and attacking Braxton. In a series of tweets, Michelle repeatedly insulted Braxton, who replied, claiming that she wasn’t talking about Michelle. Fans also got to share their views, as usual.

The feud between the two escalated when Michelle commented on a post recapping the situation, stating that Braxton knew precisely what she was doing. The pair used up quite a bit of energy beefing with each other, though. However, both artists have since moved on from the issue—or so it seems. On another note, Braxton made some tweets last month that caused concern among her fans. She revealed that she was struggling to cope with the second anniversary of her sister’s death. Her fans were worried about her well-being, but Braxton later reassured them that she would be okay.
