Boomplay Scheduled To Present An Industry Seminar On Africa Day

Boomplay, a music streaming platform with an emphasis on Africa, is celebrating Africa Day this year by hosting an industry symposium today, Friday, May 24, on its live audio channel BoomLive.

The celebration of African unity and heritage is known as Africa Day, which is commemorated on May 25 every year to mark the founding of the Organization of African Unity, which is now the African Union. According to Boomplay, the discussion will be the kickoff event for an internal campaign that will showcase African music on all of its platforms.

The conference, which has as its theme Amplifying African Music, intends to highlight the diversity of music on the continent, examine the obstacles it has faced, and explore ideas and prospects for enhancing and preserving regional successes. Director of Boomplay East Africa Martha Huro will moderate it, while panelists from the industry include Lanre Masha (Nigeria), Ernest Agbewhe (Nigeria), and Dennis Njenga (Kenya).

Boomplay’s seminar and larger campaign, according to a release, highlight Boomplay’s commitment to supporting African music and providing possibilities for musicians. Boomfest, the platform’s first live music festival offering for Africa, debuted in Kenya last month. The fact that the event will also be held in Tanzania, Ghana, and Nigeria shows how committed Boomplay is to the continent’s music business.

Apple Music, a competitor digital streaming service, unveiled its Africa Month programs earlier this month. These included the Afrobeats Hits and Viral Afrobeats playlists as well as an editorial piece titled The Story of Afrobeats in 20 Songs.
