Burna Boy And Ayra Starr Scheduled To Perform At The Glastonbury Festival 2024

This year’s lineup for the Glastonbury Festival, which takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, in the United Kingdom from June 26 to 30, includes Nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy.

The performer was announced with fellow Nigerian singer Ayra Starr and British-Ugandan musician Michael Kiwanuka. He will return to the event in 2022. They’ll perform on the legendary Pyramid Stage, which Shania Twain, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA will be headlining.

The festival has been a celebration of contemporary performing arts, including dance, comedy, theater, and music, since its founding in September 1970. One of the world’s most popular outdoor festivals, Glastonbury usually attracts about 200 000 people over several stages.

With festival coverage streamed 65 million times on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds, and 23 million viewers tuning in on the BBC’s TV networks, last year’s edition broke records for the BBC. African musicians that have performed at Glastonbury in the past include rapper Sampa the Great, Wizkid, Tems, Angélique Kidjo, and Seun Kuti and his Egypt 80 band.

Burna Boy, who is currently touring the world in support of his new album, is scheduled to perform at several international festivals this year, including the Lollapalooza in September, which is known to draw over 100,000 people annually, and the Summerjam Festival in July, which usually draws over 30,000 people.

Meanwhile, Ayra Starr has also been revealed as one of the special guests on American R&B singer Chris Brown’s upcoming “11:11” tour.
