Burna Boy Makes African Music History With A String Of Successful Sold-Out Shows In Canada

Afro-fusion superstar Burna Boy keeps setting new records for African music.

The Grammy winner made history by being the first Nigerian performer to sell out Scotia Bank Arena for two nights in a row. The multi-award winning performer filled the 19,000-capacity Scotia Bank for two nights in a row on February 24 and 25, 2024, as part of the I Told Them tour stops.

The performer, who has gained recognition for both his exceptional musical talent and stage presence, enthralled the large crowd that came to witness him perform a number of his popular hits. Emmanuel Owoniyi, the host of the weekly “Afrobeats To The World” Space on X, called the event a great experience, saying that Burna Boy and his Outsiders band gave the crowd their money’s worth.

As the first African musician to accomplish this, Burna Boy sells out back-to-back gigs at the Scotia Bank Arena. This is yet another first for the singer, who has already set a number of records for African music, such as being the first person from Africa to play the main act in a stadium in both the US and the UK.

In addition, following his outstanding performance at the 66th Grammy Awards, he becomes the first African artist to play at the main ceremony.
